What to know

Lake in detail

• One of the deepest and cleanest lakes of the group; a twin-oval basin of two cone-shaped hollows that warms up well.
• The “Lisova Pisnia” sanatorium stands on the shore — about 400 beds, mainly cardiological — named after Lesia Ukrainka's play and operating under that name since 1971.
• The lake lies on the “Lisova Pisnia” tourist route, which links Pisochne and Peremut.
• The biological and geographical field station of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv stands on the shore.
• Shores and bed are entirely sandy, with a gentle, safe slope for children.
• Largemouth bass were released into the Shatsk group in the early 1950s and in the second half of that decade occurred mainly in Pisochne; the current size of the population is not established in open data.
• In 2021 ten brown bullheads, Ameiurus nebulosus, measuring 109–199 mm were sampled directly in Pisochne — present-day confirmation of the invasive species.

History

Chronology

1. Початок 1950-х

   Under the fish acclimatisation programme, largemouth bass began to be released into the Shatsk group; in the second half of the 1950s it appeared in catches mainly in Pisochne.

2. 1967

   The 240-bed “Sribnyi Bereh” holiday home on the shore of Pisochne received its first guests.

3. 1971

   “Sribnyi Bereh” was renamed the “Lisova Pisnia” sanatorium, and a treatment and rehabilitation base was later built up here.

4. 1983

   Shatsk National Nature Park is created, and the lake has been protected within it ever since.

5. 1989–2013

   In a series of fisheries studies the brown bullhead was considered practically absent from Pisochne — an important baseline for judging its later return or growing visibility.

6. 2021

   Ten brown bullheads, Ameiurus nebulosus, were sampled directly in the lake for a parasitological study — present-day confirmation of the invasive species.
