A man built a new house in Pulmo, but his family could not live there in peace. Every evening they went to sleep indoors and every morning awoke outside. Something unseen carried them from the house even though the doors remained closed.
One day a bear leader asked the owner for shelter. After hearing about the nightly events, he had an iron staple fixed beside the door and tethered his animal to it. During the night the invisible visitor returned. It grappled with the bear, and the struggle continued until the cocks crowed. Only then did the spirit flee.
Some time later the owner went fishing on Svitiaz. A voice rose from the water and reminded him of the fight with the bear. The unseen speaker told him not to mourn the new building: the house and stove should be dismantled, because a bag of money lay beneath the stove. There would be enough treasure for the owner and his children.
The storyteller explained that the voice belonged to a rich man who had drowned in Svitiaz but could not part with his money. The owner followed the advice, took down the house and found the hidden treasure beneath the stove.
