Ostrivianske is one of the few lakes of the group with a glacial origin, with the village of Ostrivia standing on its high shore. Canals link it to Pulemetske, Luky and the ponds of the Ladanka fish farm.

History
Ostrivianske is taken into Shatsk National Nature Park.
Renaturalisation projects were carried out in the adjoining marshes to restore the natural water regime.
Autumn hydrochemical series determined pH, mineralisation and nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations.
The invasive brown bullhead dominated the commercial catches, and the lake remained one of the places where crayfish were taken.
A morphodynamic comparison showed the area to be relatively stable, but volume estimates to differ widely.
