A little girl wandered near her home beside Svitiaz. From time to time she returned from the shore carrying gold coins. She told her father that she had found pretty “shards”, but at first he paid no attention to her words.
When the child boasted of another find, her father examined it and realised that it was a genuine gold coin. He asked his daughter to show him where she gathered such “shards”.
The girl led him to the lake. An open chest filled with gold coins was floating on the water. The man bent down and reached towards it. At that very moment the chest closed by itself and began moving away from the shore.
The father never managed to take the gold. The chest drifted into the open lake and vanished among the waters of Svitiaz, leaving people only the few coins the child had carried home earlier.
